Have you heard of the term “twin flame” before? It’s a popular concept in the spiritual and New Age community that refers to the idea that there is one specific person out there who is your perfect match and soulmate. Some people even claim to offer “twin flame” readings, where they can supposedly help you find your twin flame and guide you on your journey towards union.
However, while the idea of a twin flame may sound romantic and appealing, there are a few reasons off the top of my head why twin flame readings can be problematic and why I don’t do them:
- First of all, the concept of a twin flame is not universally accepted or recognized. While some people may believe in the idea of a perfect soulmate, others may not subscribe to this belief at all. By offering twin flame readings, practitioners are essentially imposing their beliefs on the clients, which can be misleading and even harmful in the long run.
- The concept of a twin flame can be very subjective and open to interpretation. What one person considers to be a “twin flame” connection may not be the same as what another person believes. This can lead to confusion and miscommunication, and may ultimately prevent people from finding healthy and fulfilling relationships.
- Often, the relationships defined as twin flames are toxic and borderline abusive. They’re definitely emotionally manipulative. They often set (mostly women) up for an addictive cycle of roller coaster emotional highs followed by sexual trauma bonding with isolating lows, to be followed by more chaos in the form of drama and upheaval.
- Finally, twin flame readings can be very expensive and time-consuming. Some practitioners charge hundreds or even thousands of dollars for their services – usually bundled up with “spells” and “cleansings” to keep the client tied to the reader. This creates a financial burden for many people and it is psychologically damaging to the client seeking help.
If you do decide to invest in a twin flame reading, there’s no guarantee that the information you receive will be accurate or helpful. In many cases these readings act as red flags to certain readers that they’ve “got a live one” coming in hot – and they’ll start priming you for the long, expensive journey you’re about to take with them.
Overall, while the idea of a twin flame may be appealing, it’s important to approach the concept with a critical and discerning eye. Instead of relying on twin flame readings to find your soulmate, focus on building healthy and fulfilling relationships with people who share your values and interests. By doing so, you’ll be much more likely to find true happiness and contentment in your romantic life.
If you have clients asking for these readings
Twin flame flame readings may sound enticing and lucrative, but they are ultimately problematic and potentially harmful because the clients see those of us offering divination, mediumship, and systems such as numerology or astrology as “experts” whose work can be trusted. We all know that the (mostly) women who seek these types of readings are most likely lonely and tired of being single OR they’re hooked on the external validation that a syrupy and superficial reading can provide. Sometimes you don’t realize right away that this is what your client wants until you’re hip deep in the divinatory weeds with this person.
Instead of relying on these types of readings to build a client base, shift your focus to empowering clients by showing them where they are strong and encouraging them to seek out more grounded relationships. It also doesn’t hurt to gently suggest that they think about professional counseling if this sounds like an issue that they have.
If you suspect your client is being stalked or abused, contact the authorities.
